LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Texas Tech owned the second half again en route to a remarkable comeback win over Kansas in the Big 12 Conference opener for both squads.

Taurean Henderson ran for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a long scoring dash in the final minutes, as Texas Tech rallied from a 25-point deficit to steal a 31-30 win over Kansas.

The Red Raiders (3-1, 1-0 Big 12 South) outscored Texas Christian, 49-14, in the second half last week to grab a 70-35 win.

Henderson, who had three scores in last week's victory, followed a missed field goal by the Jayhawks (2-2, 0-1 North) with a 70-yard score with 2:37 left. The dash capped a 26-point surge to give Texas Tech its first lead since a 2-0 edge minutes into the game.

With the two touchdowns, Henderson moved into seventh on the school's all-time list with 15. His first score - a one-yard rush - opened the fourth to pull the Red Raiders within 30-18.

Sonny Cumbie started the Texas Tech run when he hit Trey Haverty for a 32-yard touchdown pass to end the first half.

Cumbie, who completed 28-of-52 passes for 356 yards, threw three of his four interceptions in the first half, but helped the Red Raiders rally in the second. His 27-yard touchdown pass to Jarrett Hicks with 44 seconds left in the third trimmed the Kansas lead to 30-24.

Cumbie has 1,716 passing yards through the first four games.

Haverty and Hicks both had eight catches for a combined 274 yards as Texas Tech improved to 8-1 all time vs. the Jayhawks.

John Randle scored on a 36-yard pass and a one-yard run to help Kansas build a 30-5 lead. Adam Barmann, who hit Randle for the game's first touchdown, connected with Charles Gordon for a 20-yard score in the final minute of the first half to cap the opening surge.

Kansas' Scott Webb missed two field goals in the fourth, the last a 43-yard attempt that set up Henderson's decisive score.
