LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Texas Tech looks to advance to the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament by posting its third straight home win when it hosts Georgia Tech on Wednesday.

Texas Tech (20-12) has not played since last Wednesday's 57-48 victory over San Diego State. Robert Tomaszek scored 14 points and Kasib Powell added 12 for the Red Raiders, who saw their NCAA Tournament hopes end with an overtime loss to Oklahoma in the Big 12 tournament semifinals.

The Red Raiders defeated Nevada in the opening round - also at home.

Georgia Tech pulled out a thrilling 79-78 victory at Iowa on Monday to move into the quarterfinals. B.J. Elder nailed a spinning jump shot with two seconds left to give the Yellow Jackets the victory.

Freshman Chris Bosh, who may opt to jump into the NBA draft, led Georgia Tech with 17 points and nine rebounds. Marvin Lewis and Ed Nelson each scored 12 points.

Yellow Jackets coach Paul Hewitt was upset that the NIT did not award his team a home game. After the game on Monday, Hewitt's players chartered home and attended class on Tuesday and the coach was upset that the road game would cause more missed class time. The series between the teams is tied, 2-2, although they have not met since 1964.

The winner faces St. John's or UAB in New York on April Fool's Day.
