Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Syracuse Orangemen

SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- No. 12 Syracuse seeks to clinch the top seed out of the West Division in the Big East Conference on Sunday afternoon when it hosts struggling Rutgers at the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse (22-4, 12-3 Big East West) is tied with Pittsburgh for the West Division lead with game left for each team. The Orangemen own the tiebreaker advantage over the Panthers, who play at Villanova on Sunday.

The Orangemen have won six straight and are a perfect 16-0 at home this season. Syracuse also is one win shy of notching the 1,600th in the history of the program.

Freshman Carmelo Anthony leads the way for Syracuse, averaging 22.2 points and 9.8 rebounds. Anthony has 17 double-doubles.

Syracuse is looking for revenge after suffering a 68-65 loss at Rutgers on January 29. Anthony scored 17 points and fellow freshman Gerry McNamara added 12 for the Orangemen.

Jerome Coleman had a huge game with 31 points to lead Rutgers. Coleman drained five 3-pointers and made 12-of-23 shots overall.

Rutgers (12-15, 4-11) is playing its season finale, having been eliminated from contention for the Big East tournament. West Virginia's victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday eliminated the Scarlet Knights.

Coleman and Ricky Shields each scored 11 points as Rutgers lost for the fifth time in six games with Thursday's 75-59 defeat at St. John's. The Scarlet Knights allowed Red Storm guard Marcus Hatten to explode for a career-high 44 points.

Rutgers fell to 0-7 on the road in Big East play this season.
